McKenzie Cantrell for State RepresentativeNon-Profit Employment Attorney

McKenzie is a non-profit employment attorney committed to defending the rights and freedoms of Kentucky workers. McKenzie has devoted her career to service and was honored to answer the call to run for State Representative and bring a new perspective to the 38th district.

McKenzie specializes in minimum wage and overtime law and works with low-income clients to resolve employment disputes. As one of few attorneys who can communicate in English and Spanish, she is able to ensure clients across the Commonwealth are heard. She also advocates for victims of forced labor trafficking.McKenzie Cantrell for State Representative

Working Family Advocate

McKenzie’s advocacy goes beyond the courtroom. She advocates for workers at the state and local level promoting policies for Kentuckians who are spending more time on the job while wages stay the same. McKenzie advocates in Frankfort in favor of higher wages and safer workplaces.

For example,  she recently worked with groups in Louisville and Lexington to advocate for the passage of local minimum wage ordinances. McKenzie knows enough about what’s going on in Frankfort to know that she wants to be a part of making the legislature work better for the people. In recognition of her work on behalf of working Kentuckians, McKenzie attended the White House Summit on Working Families in 2014 and the White House Summit on Worker Voice in 2015.

University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law

McKenzie received her law degree from the Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville, where she represented victims of domestic violence in the school’s law clinic along with a full course load. For her service to the law clinic, McKenzie was awarded the National Women Lawyers Association Award.
